my approach

You know it’s important to be healthy, but somehow a healthy diet and lifestyle keep managing to drop to the bottom of your to-do list. You let your work, family and life get in the way. Sound familiar? I work with this type of person (just like you!) – in fact I used to be one myself!

When was the last time you put yourself at the top of your to-do list?

What is Health Coaching?

Health Coaching is a unique, exciting innovation in health and nutrition. As an AADP Certified Health Coach, I have studied all the major dietary theories and will help you discover what approach works best for you at this point in your life.

While most dietitians dwell on calories, carbs, fats, proteins, restrictions and lists of good and bad foods, I work with my clients to create a happy, healthy and nourishing life in a way that is flexible, fun and free of denial and discipline.

The Feed Your Roots Philosophy

Our health has less to do with our genes and how we look on the outside than we think. Our roots (that’s our diet and lifestyle) play a leading role in our overall health and wellness.

Just as roots anchor a plant to the ground in order to provide it with the nutrients it needs to survive, I work with you to make sure your roots keep you grounded and give you what you need to not just survive, but to LIVE!

What This All Means To YOU!

We are all different and unique individuals and as a result, the same diet does not work for everyone. By working with me, you will receive bio-individual coaching to empower you to make educated changes that will have a lifelong effect on your health and wellness. This is not a fad diet or a quick fix – being healthy takes more than a magic pill or special drink.

I will create the program that works best for you (and only you) to make gradual, lifelong changes that enable you to reach your current and future health goals!

about penina

When it came to my health, I used to think that “good enough” was well, good enough. My health was not a huge priority. Why should it be? I rarely got sick, I wasn’t overweight and I felt pretty good most of the time. I ate what I thought was a sensible diet and exercised regularly.

Like most girls I knew, I wouldn’t have minded losing a few pounds, but instead I preferred to be the easy-going girl that wasn’t picky at restaurants and could enjoy cocktails without guilt. I told myself I’d rather feel satisfied after meals and carry around an extra handful of pounds than be hungry, miserable and slightly skinnier. It wasn’t worth it to me.

It wasn’t until I started experiencing debilitating digestive issues in my early-twenties that I realized it was time to start caring more about my health and seriously evaluate how I was treating my body.

I started focusing on eating real food made with whole and delicious ingredients.

I started feeling better. My puffy face vanished. My skin cleared up. I didn’t have to rely on caffeine for energy anymore. I slept better at night. It was awesome. I even lost weight – and more than just the handful I always wished would disappear without forced starvation.

I left my career in the corporate world. I became a certified health coach. I went back to school to earn a Master’s degree in Human Nutrition.

Today I am grateful to work with people that don’t want to settle for “good enough”.
